Week 12 was filled with new announcements – we counted 9 new phones and tablets and that’s not even including the birth of a whole new brand – ROKiT.
Apple, Samsung, vivo, Honor, Oppo and Xiaomi were the companies that brought new devices this week and while none of those were proper flagships, some might end up to be proper best sellers, delivering impressive value for money.
Meanwhile, the P30 and P30 Pro leaked heavily this week – so much so that we are left wondering if there’s anything left that we don’t know about the duo yet. At least it’s all going to stop next week as Huawei will finally make its new flagships official.
In other news we learned that the Sony Xperia 1’s 4K OLED screen will work at its full resolution all the time, instead of tuning down to 1080p in most apps and the UI as was the case of its predecessor. We also learned that Motorola is working on an Exynos-powered Android One phone to join its Moto One series.
That was it for week 12 – see you next week!
Both feature Apple A12 Bionic, up to 256GB storage, Touch ID and 1st generation Apple Pencil support.
Powered by Kirin 980 SoC and a multi-camera setup at the back, these phones will go official on March 26.
This will be enabled after launch with an OTA update. This comes from a new leak from that also details the launch day promo in Singapore.
Xiaomi is testing at least three new phones with the technology, they will also have 32 MP selfie shooters.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855 and has a massive built-in cooler, plus an optional external cooler and a new gamepad to boot.
The P30 will have a 3.5mm jack – you can see it in the video. The Amazon Italy pricing for the P30 Pro is higher than expected.
The advantage of EUV is 20% higher transistor density. Huawei aims to become more indipendent with HiSilicon supplying 60% of chipsets.
The idea is this: keep the width at 65mm, same as the Compact phones, but make the phone taller. This will be a mid-range model, though.
That’s for the models with 128GB storage and essentially match the MSRP of the Galaxy S10+ and S10e, respectively.
