I agree! US was a great concept and an interesting thriller.
The first 1/3 of the movie was quite fantastic in its tone and theme. The scene of the family versing their doubles and escaping their home on the boat was perfectly blended thriller. Acting from the four main cast members was incredible as they each played an individual AND tether that versed each other.
Afterwards, to began to drag and became much too “widescope”, unnaturally funny, yet still kept me interested enough to wait for confirmation of the predictable “twist”. It was an interesting concept for sure!
Get Out was just much better in that it’s themes, plot, and characters were much more set and nice and neatly tied together. With humor that fit and nicely flowed between the story.
I still think that the home invasion sequence was done extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed that whole by. Afterwards, the tone of the film/plot changed and was much less enjoyable. 🙂
