Huawei Mate 20 series gets beta access to EMUI 9.1

Huawei’s P30 and P30 Pro were the only phones so far that came with the company’s latest software – EMUI 9.1. The UI built on top of Android 9.0 offers a more optimized experience, new file system, refined gestures, and icon design. Starting today, the Mate 20 family – including the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Mate 20 RS are starting the beta testing of the new software.

The beta is available to non-rooted phones and requires you to have 6GB of free space to try it. As is normally the case with beta trials it’s unwise to sign up with your daily driver phone.

Prior to upgrading to the beta firmware, you should be warned that this release does not support rollback capabilities so once you upgrade you’ll have to wait for further beta builds if you want to go back to a stable version of EMUI.

For more details on EMUI 9.1’s new features check out Huawei’s site.
