Hot News From SIAR 2018 – Haute Time

Every year the SIAR, Salon Internacional Alta Relojeria, grows bigger. Held in Mexico-city, it is the stage on which bold new designs, often highlighting the unique culture of its host country are introduced. Also, this year we were not disappointed, with several incredible new watches, as well as interesting news!

L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of La Santa Muerte 161941-5005 (4)

Chopard used the event to introduce its piece unique, the L.U.C Perpetual T Spirit of ‘La Santa Muerte.’ With a clever design, they turned the perpetual calendar layout into a skull. It’s 18-carat is beautifully engraved in the theme of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It has resulted in an extraordinary watch and showed a side of Chopard that we don’t see too often.

Zenith Defy El Primero Zero-G skull

Zenith also went all in with three different versions of the Defy Zero G, of which each will also be available in titanium, yellow and rose gold, which they aged slightly to highlight the beautiful engravings. Zenith choose three themes that adorn both the case, as well as the bracelet of the Defy Zero G. The ‘Virgen de Guadalupe’ showcases the Catholic image enshrined within the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Guadelupe in Mexico City in delicate engravings, while the Defy Zero G Skull pays tribute to Día de Los Muertos. The third version has pirates as its theme, making it perfect for weekend buccaneers.

De Bethune DB28 Steel Wheels Skeleton

De Bethune was also at SIAR 2018. While they did not introduce a new watch, their news was equally important. By partnering with the Raconli group, they are once more distributed in Mexico. This event is well received among watch connoisseurs and marks another step forward after the brand was saved from the brink of bankruptcy in 2017.  Prior to this De Bethune also announced that Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry will become its retail partner in California.

Also, Hublot was at the SIAR 2018 with an important introduction, but more about that tomorrow at Haute Time!
